I transitioned from a career in advertising to teaching in 2002, volunteering at Margaret Drive Special School in Singapore and working closely with children with severe special needs and ASD. This experience led to a 12-year role in the Primary School Learning Support department at UWCSEA, where I honed strategies to help neurodiverse students thrive in mainstream settings, adapt curricula to individual needs, and rebuild confidence in struggling learners. During this time, I also completed my PGCE and taught in the French department.

As a parent of a child with ASD, I became a lifelong advocate—coordinating interventions, therapies, and school transitions. Seeing him now at a top UK university highlights the transformative impact of early, personalized support.

In 2003, we founded Parker Hamilton Consulting, a bespoke consultancy helping families find schools that truly meet their child’s needs. After two decades abroad in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, we returned to the UK in 2020, committed to bridging a gap in educational consultancy and providing the tailored guidance we once sought for our own children.

I moved to Singapore from London in 2000 and began volunteering at a NGO (called AWARE) where I trained to work on their Helpline which was for women in crisis. This profound experience made me decide I wanted to pursue a degree in Social Work. After completing this, I started working in a private counselling practice in Singapore (where I still work), while still volunteering at AWARE.

A few years, and two children later, I chose to do a Masters in Social Sciences (Counselling), had my third child, and a few years after that, I joined United World College of South East Asia as a school counsellor which is where I met Marina.

Over the course of twenty years, my eldest son was diagnosed with Dyslexia and my youngest with Dysgraphia and ADHD.

In 2020 my family moved to London, as did Marina’s, and we started discussing the educational journeys we had both been on for our children and how important it is to find the right school for every child, but how learning differences or special circumstances can make this even harder.

We are thrilled to have started Parker Hamilton Consulting with this view in mind
